Bengal Pattachitra

Bengal's Pattachitra art style is renowned for its vivid hues, lines, and brushstrokes. It is a part of the mythological and traditional history of West Bengal.  The Patuas play songs as part of the distinctive folk practice known as Pattachitra, which consists of visual storytelling. The painters known as chitrakars depict stories on long scrolls (family surname). Pata is derived from the Sanskrit words patta, which means fabric, and Chitra, which means painting.Pattachitra is the precursor of modern-day animation. Pattachitra uses clear audio messages and potent visual imagery in its multilayer communication.
