Kalamkari

The ancient Indian art of kalamkari first appeared about 3000 years ago in the modern-day states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its name, Kalamkari, which translates to "pen" and "craft," refers to a special, detailed form of hand-painting on cloth. Scenes from religious books including the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Bhagavatam were initially shown in this style. These paintings, which depict the tales of the gods, were frequently employed as beautiful backgrounds in temples.
